About Me

Finding a kitten changed my life in 2007. He is now my 15 year old boy Chirpy, aka Angel Face, Tuna Faced Boy, C Cat, Snugglepop, Mr C Chirpy Esq... He is the reason I went back to university at the age of 28 to become a vet. Since graduating almost 10 years ago, I have only ever worked with cats at cat-only clinics, first at The Cat Hospital in Ireland in 2013 and at the Oxford Cat Clinic in the UK since then. I am tired of cats being overlooked and misunderstood in general practice.

Many vets are not interested in cats, some are scared of cats and general vets divide their learning across all the species they treat.

Cat-only vets focus solely on cats, which means they have a more in-depth knowledge of all things cat.

I spend 100% of my learning time on cats! I am a member of the International Society for Feline Medicine (ISFM) and a member of the Australia and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (Feline Chapter) - a membership that is earned only though a rigorous exam process in a particular discipline - in my case CATS!

I am also an Advanced Practitioner in Feline Medicine, a qualification awarded to vets in the UK by our governing body the RCVS through a demonstration of above average knowledge of a particular discipline, in my case I am sure that you guessed it - cats!

I want all cat owners to have access to a vet who is truly passionate about cats. I want to help more cat owners through the power of video. Watch my video below to hear my story.

You can check out my videos under the video tab - whether you are new to cat ownership or you are a long time cat parent, I am sure you will find some information that can help you and your cat.

Finding a kitten changed my life in 2007. He is now my 16 year old boy Chirpy, aka Angel Face, Tuna Faced Boy, C Cat, Snugglepop, Mr C Chirpy Esq...

He is the reason I went back to university at the age of 28 to become a vet. Since graduating over 10 years ago, I have only ever worked with cats at cat-only clinics, first at The Cat Hospital in Ireland in 2013 - which hooked me on cat-only clinics! Since then I have worked only at cat only clinics in the UK, where I have been treating only cats for 11 years. I am tired of cats being overlooked and misunderstood in general practice.

I am also an Advanced Practitioner in Feline Medicine, a qualification awarded to vets in the UK by our governing body the RCVS as official recognition of a vet's  knowledge and dedication to a particular field of veterinary practice. â€‹You can read more about how and why this is awarded to only a small number of vets each year here.

In September 2023 I received a distinction in ISFM's Advanced Feline Behaviour course, allowing me to better help my clients with their cat behaviour problems.

When I am not studying cats and cat behaviour I am snuggling with my 16 year old boy, reading a good book or walking the countryside looking for mushrooms and fruit to forage!
